How is red flashing NIC indicator on remote reset?

Installed remote on DirecTV Plus HD DVR to:
(1) Allow base unit to filter onscreen TV CID display.
(2) Prevent DVR from grabbing CID info (which interferes with base unit operation).

Setup works well, but although reviewing NIC on base unit resets red flashing NIC indicator on base unit, it doesn't on remote.

Am I missing something?
